In-depth knowledge of the operational behaviour of DC machines controlled by electronic power actuators. Qualified knowledge of design, functioning and operation of AC and three-phase transformers. | | Objectives: | Basic understanding of electrical drives. Performance characteristics and dimensioning of selected drives. Getting acquainted with the design, functioning and principal operation of electrical machines (DC machine, asynchronous machine and EC motor) and their control. | | Contents: | Interaction of drive motor and driven machine, analysis of actuating and motion proc-esses, selection of drive motor, interaction of drive motor and load.
Physical fundamental principles of electrical machines. DC machine: design and func-tioning, design characteristics, air-gap fields and armature reaction, induced voltage, torque and performance, main equations and operational behaviour, speed control, starting and braking, converter-fed DC-motors. These contents are completed by practical work in the laboratory.
