| Objectives: | Students are able to analyze and understand processes of corrosion and wear and to select materials and protective measures. They know the most important technologies for improving the properties of surfaces. The students have got basic knowledge of high-temperature and tool materials. They know the main non-destructive testing methods and can use them in the field of quality assurance. |
| Contents: | Corrosion: Chemical and electrochemical corrosion, types of corrosion, corrosion protection, materials selection for marine technology. Tribology: friction, wear, lubrication; mechanism of wear. Technology of steel heat treatment : hardenability, surface heat treatment, thermomechanical processes.
High temperature materials. Toolmaterials. Surface improvement technologies. Non destructive testing methods. Materials selection examples and case studies.
