Basis of evaluation is the project documentation with the regenerated results of the Design project. Apart from the result of the challenge the graphic design of the documentation is also determining for evaluation
Objectives:
Dispute with design concepts and design preferences.
Understanding for formal or concept ional developments in the current Design scene and learn the stylistic idiom. The ability to analyze given requirements to lead in sustainable development and outstanding concepts. Furthermore to translate the concept into purposeful design work and finally present in responding form as a model.
Course contents:
Project-oriented lecture on basics, theory and affect of the industrial design. Theoretical contents of the lecture are deepened by an accompanying design project and summarized in a documentation. The following topics are treated: definition, context and operating phases of the Design process, self understanding of the designers, project planning and calculation, Design history, criteria for shaping, Design philosophies, Design styles, aesthetic bases, design theory, methodical form development, graphic, layout, typography, graphic software, modelling techniques construction techniques.
Literature:
Leider sind kaum herausragende Designbücher als Lehrbücher zu empfehlen. Design lässt sich nur sehr schwer in Handlungsanleitungen und Methoden zwingen und ist je nach Kontext oft differenziert zu betrachten. Natürlich gibt es jede Menge „Bunte Designbücher“ die zwar nett aber meist auch teuer sind. Die Design Zeitschriften hingegen sind sehr zu empfehlen zumal sie den aktuellen Trend besser reflektieren als Bücher dies können.
