Lecturer(s):Prof. Dr. rer. nat. I. Feige
Available: winter term summer term
Course type:Lecture/practical exercises
Exam type:Written e. 1,5h or oral examine
Exam requirements:Knowledge of types, mixtures, and the separation of chemical compounds. Basic knowledge of atomic structures and chemical bonds. Basic knowledge of the character of elements in dependence on their position in the periodic table. Basic knowledge of chemical reactions, their stoichiometry, from energetic aspects, and how to apply the law of mass action on some simple examples. Basic knowledge of naming chemical compounds.
Objectives:The aim of the course is to provide students with a basic knowledge of the chemical properties of the most important classes of chemical compounds (acids, bases, salts, metals, nonmetals). At the end of the course they can evaluate the impact of such substances on technology and environment, and they are able to discuss about this with experts.
Course contents:Classification of compounds; separation of compound mixtures; atom; atom models; chemical bonds; peridic system; properties of salts, metals and non-metals, acids, bases; chemical reaction; electrochemical processes; elements
