Profound knowledge of mechanics and oscillation theory.
Ability to solve problems related to the subject.
Objectives:
The basis for the understanding of physical aspects of engineering problems. This course shall provide the students with necessary knowledge and skills in order to analyse and solve problems of mechanics and oscillations.
Course contents:
Mechanics: Physical quantities and units. Kinematics of masspoint (position vector, velocity, acceleration, inclined throw, circular motion). Dynamics of masspoint (Newton's laws, Force, momentum, equations of motion, collision theory). Work, energy and power (kinetic and potential energy, conservative forces). Rigid body (centre of mass, angular momentum, torque). Gravitation, planetary motions.
Oscillations: Free undamped and damped harmonic oscillator. Forced oscillations. Resonance.
